Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was selected for the inaugural Voices Conference because it is the place where a former slave created the first denomination that valued and embraced the culture of African Americans.

The story of the AME church, a true highlight in Philly history, shaped our nation and embodies what we hope to accomplish with our conference. We desire to use Philly as a launching ground for developing leaders who will make impact that lasts for generations and benefits their culture of origin. The event will be hosted at Mother Bethel AME church, is the oldest church property in the United States to be continuously owned by African Americans.
